YOUR QUARTERLY FRAUD FOCUS
Recently, bank and credit union members across the country have fallen victim to fraudulent texts and phone calls from individuals posing as financial institution employees. This makes members drop their guard and reveal information that allows a scammer to take control of their online banking or other information that helps the scammer steal the victim's identity.
This alarming trend highlights the importance of staying vigilant and informed to protect yourself from scams. Here's what you need to know and
steps you can take to safeguard your financial well-being.
1. STAY ALERT. Be cautious of unexpected calls or texts claiming to be from us. When in doubt, verify by calling us directly through our phone number or via a secure message in online or mobile banking. It's better to be safe than sorry!
2. SAFEGUARD. Don't give out sensitive information or one-time passcodes. We will NEVER ask you for a one-time passcode. If someone asks you for a passcode from us, end the conversation immediately. Also, avoid clicking on any links in texts. It could be a phishing attempt.
3. REPORT. If you receive a suspicious text or phone call, do not engage and contact us immediately to verify and report the attempt.
You are your best defense against fraud and identity theft. For an extra leg up on scammers, we offer identity recovery services for as low as $2 per month.
2024: REACHING YOUR FINANCIAL GOALS
An estimated 80% of New Year's resolutions fail by mid-February every year. Many of us start the year with great intentions; we really believe this will be “our year” – and then life happens, and maybe this isn’t “our year” after all (yet again).
Join our partner GreenPath on January 24 at 10 a.m. for a webinar to learn how to set AND reach your financial goals in 2024. They'll discuss how to set realistic goals and how to understand and be prepared for what may derail your progress and strategies to keep you moving toward your goals so that 2024 can be “your year.”
THE COST OF PROCRASTINATION
Procrastination is avoiding a task that needs to be done—postponing until tomorrow what could be done today. Procrastinators can sabotage themselves. They often put obstacles in their own path. They may choose a path that hurts their performance.
If you have been meaning to get around to addressing some part of your financial future, maybe it's time to develop a strategy. Don't let procrastination keep you from pursuing your financial goals!
At Cascade Federal Credit Union, our CFS3 Financial Advisor can
help you get started so you can make an achievable plan for your
financial future. Contact our CFS Advisor, Mike, to schedule a complimentary, no-obligation appointment so you can make an achievable plan for your financial future.
